Marick Real Estate has selected Watkin Jones to redevelop 38-40 George Street into Wilde Oxford, a 145-unit aparthotel.
This will include 400m2 of community space and is being developed in partnership with Makespace Oxfordshire, which will use the site for a range of community activities.
Wilde Oxford, which will be operated by Staycity Group, is designed to target a BREEAM “Excellent” rating.
The project is now underway with hoardings to be installed in mid-August with demolition anticipated to start later in the month.
Practical completion and handover is being targeted for the start of 2029.

“This is a strong addition to our delivery pipeline, further supporting our diversification into the hotel sector and marking our first development partnership with Marick Real Estate,” said Alex Pease, CEO at Watkin Jones.
“This transaction demonstrates our ability to deliver high-quality urban schemes, in vibrant cities like Oxford, where demand remains strong for well-located accommodation options.”
Matthew Kimberley, director at Marick Real Estate, added: “Moving to mobilisation and demolition phases is a big step forward for the George Street regeneration.
“We are committed to working closely with our neighbours, and Watkin Jones will be holding introductory meetings with residents, market traders, and local businesses to ensure lines of communication are open from day one.
“We would like to thank the local community for their continued support as we progress this exciting development for Oxford.”
